Scottish player David Docherty won the 2023 Irish Poker Open Main Event, earning €365,000 for outlasting the 2,491-entry field. Docherty, who now boasts more than $1.1 million in live earnings, won his entry to the tournament for just $109 on PokerStars.

Docherty was confident about his prospects of winning, telling PokerStars in an interview during the tournament that he was “very focused” and “very in the zone.”

“I don’t think I’m getting ahead of myself,” Doherty said about his intuition.

The Scot had a similar feeling when he won a Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Main Event in 2021 for £138,000, which launched his career.
