Chris Moneymaker outlasted 162 opponents in a star-studded $25,000-buyin Triton Poker event to win $903,000 on Tuesday. It was his second-largest win since taking down the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event and ignited the global poker boom — last year he took down a $250,000 Triton Super High Roller for more than $2 million. He now has nearly $7.5 million in career lifetime poker earnings.
“I wasn’t going to lose today,” said Moneymaker. “I could have put it in with any hand and I would have won — I ran pure.”
He indeed ran pure, finding himself with just one big blind before spinning it up and topping a tough final table:

Moneymaker defeated fellow American Brian Kim heads up to win the title. Kim is no stranger to success in big buy-in Triton events, finishing 3rd in the $50,000 at Jeju for $954,000 and 2nd in the $50,000 Bounty Turbo in Monte Carlo for $359,000.
Spaniard Adrian Mateos is also on a tear recently, reaching the final table after finishing 11th in the record-breaking, PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo Main Event for $75,179.
